TECHNICAL UPDATE – PRODUCT DISCLAIMER CANTEBURY GLASS

Effective Date: 16 October 2020

Dear Customer

Following an Aftersales Review, it has become apparent that customers sometimes do not perceive Canterbury Glass to be up to standard as it appears not to be straight once installed. A technical review was conducted by our Technical & Compliance Director and the following was concluded: –

By nature, Canterbury Glass is a very decorative, repetitive etched glass pattern. Depending on light conditions and the angle at which the glass is viewed, an optical illusion of the pattern not being straight and true can be created. In essence however, on measuring the points on the pattern to the sash glass line it is in fact straight.

Whilst every effort is made at Masterframe to glaze the sash straight, we cannot guarantee that this illusion may not occur once the window has been installed and cannot therefore treat this as a manufacturing fault.

We would appreciate it if, when customers are interested in this glass that we point out the possibility of this illusion occurring prior to the order being placed.

Best Regards
The Masterframe Team
